Two gigs in a month! Yep, that’s us. After an exciting show at the Chatterbox in Indy last week we’ll present mostly new material at the Artsgarden in Indianapolis, Friday November 20 from 12:15-1:15.
Special guest Chris Parker on drums. He used to be one of my guitar students. After I couldn’t show him anything new he focused on his drumming. Now, along with Neal Heidler on bass and myself on guitar, there are three band members making funny, crazy, weird, and sometimes painful faces while cranking out some tunes. Oh, and Tom? Somebody has to look normal.
For the first time Nutpicker will appear on a Jazz Fables show at Bear’s Place, in Bloomington, IN, this coming Thursday, August 6 from 5:30-8pm. Since we are from the Bloomington “underground” and most people don’t know us we had to take the date offered which happens to be first week of public school and IU on break (probably an important ball game or a parachute competition on TV).
BUT, that means there is going to be plenty of good seats, perhaps even close-by parking.
….next week the world!
But of course we say that before every gig.
We will present a ton of new material at the Chatterbox, tomorrow, Friday May 8th. Starting at 10:30 you can hear and see Tom, Craig, Neal and Peter fake (or as “they” sometimes call it improvise) their way through some John Scofield, John McLaughlin and Dave Weckl tunes.
And then there are new originals with obscure titles such as:
Don’t they say that there’s a nut born every second? Depends on who “they” are, I guess. And what kind of nuts we are actually talking about. We at Nutpicker try to handpick the good ones.
As always, picking a new band name was a tough nut in itself (“Nitpicker” was also on the list.) Then there are two band members who pick strings, a third who occasionally picks his nose and a fourth who never picks a fight. So there you go.
Unfortunately the domain nutpicker.com was already taken so I settled on nutpicker.net. But when I checked what’s at nutpicker.com I got the impression that we are joined at the hip in a strange way.
